Editorial TCi Director Frank D’hondt appointed as board member of new ISOCARP Journal

The Journal of the International Society of City and Regional Planners aims to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise between planning theory and practise. The objective is first to satisfy the needs of ISOCARP’s members for a quality publishing platform, and second to deliver a tool for dissemination of urban planning knowledge worldwide. The Journal will be complementary to the annual Review.

The broad range of issues which should be addressed includes main threads present in the contemporary planning discourse, such as climate planning, public space design, smart communities, food provision, public participation, informal settlements and the like. Following the themes of annual ISOCARP Congress, the journal would address the most crucial challenges of contemporary urbanisation and as such may with time become the tool for dissemination of planning knowledge worldwide. We aim at the publication, which thanks to the expertise of our members could explore the specific facets of the most current urban planning themes. At the same time, taking into account multiple perspectives and points of view of our members distributed globally, a strong potential for creativity and brand new ideas may be generated.

The ISOCARP Journal is initiated by Małgorzata Hanzl, Assistant Professor of Urban Planning in Lodz University of Technology, Poland and Vice-President of ISOCARP.
